I have followed the recipe exactly and twice daily feeding schedule religiously for 30 days. My starter has bubbled to the point of being foamy since day 7, but only ever rises a little less than 50%. The temperature of my house isn't bad, around 74 degrees, but I have tried warmer locations (oven with light, heating pad, etc) - nothing helps. I decided to try making bread with it today just to see what happens. I got a lump of very hydrated dough that did absolutely nothing. Can my starter be saved - or is a lost cause. Flour is getting hard to come by and I feel it is a waste to keep feeding twice a day for no result. Getting frustrated!!
