Good grief, I am stuck on step 1. Step 1 reads: "Combine 4 ounces (1 cup) whole rye flour (pumpernickel) or whole wheat flour with 4 ounces (1/2 cup) non-chlorinated cool water in a non-reactive container" .
My confusion is, I thought 4oz was 1/2cup but the directions suggest 4 ounces is 1 cup of flour.
