Jillian, are you using well water, or town/city water? If the water in your town is treated with chlorine, it can inhibit the growth of the yeast in your stater. The easiest fix for this is to put the water from your tap in an open container for a few hours before using it; this gives the chlorine a chance to dissipate. Or, in a pinch, bottled water will also do the trick. If the water isn't on the table as an issue, I would try a feeding with some organic whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose. The minerals and microflora on the organic whole wheat may give your starter the boost it needs to get going. It's worth a try before ditching it, anyway! Susan
