Anu, the starter can live indefinitely, given it's cared for with food and water. We have a starter here that's been bubbling away for over 200 years. I think, given your heat and humidity, your starter will be quite happy when you feed it. That said, unless you want to feed it twice a day, you should keep it refrigerated, feeding it maybe once a week. Using refrigeration yields a lot more convenient schedule for most people.
