Hi Siri - Yes, you may begin and maintain a starter using a whole wheat starter. We recommend feeding it more often than the once per week since it will be more active. Whole grains are packed with minerals and oils. The minerals are a nice boost for activity while the oils make the starter susceptible to becoming rancid so more frequent feedings are best.
