Hi Mary! While adding flour can stiffen up a dough, it should be a last resort as kneading/mixing the dough can also stiffen up the dough without the risk of drying out the dough. Try mixing the dough for up to 20 minutes to incorporate all the fat and laminate in the dough well before attempting to add flour 1 tablespoon at a time. Happy baking!
