Hi there, Marisa! You're welcome to try mixing this cake by hand a try but it can be tricky to properly cream butter and sugar together by hand. You'll want to soften the butter and then using a sturdy rubber spatula, incorporate the sugar until evenly combined, and then add the eggs and oil. You'll want to mix this until homogenous and there are no lumps of butter. Then add the next group of ingredients stirring them in until evenly combined, being sure to scrape the bottom of the bowl so that everything is well-mixed. We hope this helps!
