I just read this after reading one requiring lye a few days ago. I've worked with worse in the lab, but the idea of going finding/buying lye made me think 'maybe someday'. If I can use baking soda, that turns into 'definitely next weekend!'. I'm very excited to try this recipe. I would also be interested if I could make sourdough pretzels with my KAF live sourdough instead of the yeast. I love that stuff, it's like my precious fridge-pet. You certainly can make sourdough pretzels!
