Michael, you could do that! You'll want to bake them until they're set, so probably just reduce the baking time by 2 or 3 minutes, so make sure they stay coherent in the fryer. Now you've got us dreaming about all kinds of wild possibilities. Beer-battered cider doughnuts? Hmm ...
