We're sorry to hear that you had trouble with the assembly process, Joy! Stiffer whipped cream will help make for a more stable cake, as will using cherries that have more of the liquid drained off so the filling isn't as wet. Leveling off the cake layers is also important so you have a flat surface to work with.
