Sometimes if your pan is too big it can stop hot air from circulating well around the oven and create cold spots especially on the tops of the rolls, Annette. It would be helpful to also check the heating elements in your oven and make sure that they are all functioning well. Perhaps the top element just isn't quite as strong as the others? Hope you're next big batch comes out a big more even!
