I HAD to reply to this - as I LIVED it. I would make bread - by hand - 3or 4 times a week. The bread would disappear before the slathered butter melted. BUT (finger in air) would anyone want to learn HOW to do it themselves? NOOooo. So start your campaign: Right next to the hot loaf, a small note reads, "With a bread machine, I could have made 2 loaves." Draw or clip images of dinner rolls and place them on a plate - with a small note, "Didn't have a bread machine, so I didn't have time." You get the idea. Don't say a word! And stop baking bread for a few days, and leave, on the counter, a bread knife and bare bread board with a stand up note for your family, "A bread machine would SOLVE this." I can assure that a bread machine will "show up" within a few months - holiday or not. I got to the point where I "accidentally" left my King Arthur Flour catalog on the kitchen counter.; on the page with a Zo. (toothy grin) YUP, I got it. NINE relatives and two friends chipped in, Heh.
