As someone who regularly freezes pumpkin/squash in various forms (strained, puréed, baked, diced, etc.), I find that the plastic lids fare much better in the freezer and help keep out freezer burn a bit better (although, they’re not 100% either).
Also, Elizabeth’s advice about headroom and jar shape is important. It’s a lesson usually learned after ruining a few jars…. That’s how our household learned 🤦♀️.
