While I find the use of the idiom "skin the cat" objectionable and am surprised to see it on a King Arthur thread, I did find good ideas for cooking my pie pumpkin, which did double duty as a Halloween decoration. In the end I've cook it the same as I do other similar squashes, open side down in a pan with a small amount of water for steaming and covered with foil, for about an hour. Skin lifted effortlessly. Will strain excess liquid and reserve for another use, maybe even to add moisture to my pumpkin bread/muffin batter. I find myself constantly altering recipes by reducing fats and sugars to make healthier snacks, but always use King Arthur White Whole Wheat Flour. It's a long time staple in my kitchen.
