Dave, the 4 ounces referred to in the recipe is a weight measurement rather than a liquid volume measurement, which is the 1 cup = 8 oz. you are talking about. Bakers often find it easier and more accurate to weigh all their ingredients, including the liquid ones, so we've included weight measurements in both ounces and grams in most of our recipes. And here is a handy weight chart, which gives you weights for our flours and other common ingredients called for in our recipes. Barb@KAF
