Hi there, Martha. We're sorry to hear that you had some troubles with this recipe. While we do recommend using an 8" x 8" square pan to get a perfectly square piece of dough for square biscuits, we don't recommend baking them in the pan. As you found, it doesn't allow for enough airflow for the biscuits to bake through and brown evenly.
