"Bakers Fancy"

September 2, 2011 at 10:49am

I am sorry to be a spoil sport but I have genuine concerns about using brown paper bags for the reasons explained in this article: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Food-Safety-Issues-767/Cooking-Turkey-Brown-Paper.htm. I used to let my Christmas cookies on the bags when I was knee deep in Holiday baking but was advised against that years ago. Unfortunately the use of chemicals, metal shavings, etc. render these bags unusable in food preparation. I like your idea of using an improvised parchment bag though. Thanks for your feedback - that's exactly why I tell people, "If you have ANY hesitation at all, use parchment." Luckily, we're all free to make our own decisions; thanks for providing the information here to help others make theirs. PJH
