Another easy chutney for samosa is: 5 pitted dates diced fine, 3/4 c brown sugar, 1/2 tsp chili flakes, 1 tablespoon tamarind paste (available at Indian grocery), 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder, and 1.5 cups water. Boil water, add brown sugar, throw in finely diced dates, let it come to a boil, and throw in the rest. Reduce until consistency of maple syrup. It is sweet and sour with a slight kick from the spices- It's super simple and a crowd pleaser!
