Point of clarification: Outback didn't invent the Onion Mum...it dates at least to the early/mid 80s at Russell's Marina Grill first (8555 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA). Early Outback menu copy actually credited Russell's. Thanks for sharing. It's easy to believe such a treat came from NOLA! ~ MaryJane These days Outback claims they invented them - maybe they just lay claim to the "blooming onion"? At any rate, provenance aside - I'm glad SOMEONE invented that decadent treat! :) PJH
