I totally agree. I followed the recipe as far as not doing the baking soda water and I seriously regret it. I KNEW they wouldn't taste like pretzels and I am seriously annoyed. The only things going for them is that I didn't do the yeast and did JUST starter & a 19 hour ferment and they taste so sour and SO delicous! But, I have sourdough bread baked, I wanted pretzels.
