I think you can still buy water chestnuts in the kind of cans that you can use a can opener on the top and the bottom thus you will be left with a ring. Use the water chestnuts in a hot chicken salad recipe. Thanks for this tip - very useful to know there are still cans you can cut the top AND bottom out of! PJH
