Anne, it sounds like there was a bit too much flour added to the dough. We're wondering how you measure your flour: by weight or volume. For best results, we recommend using a scale to measure your flour by weight, or if using measuring cups, using this fluff, sprinkle, sweep method shown here. This will ensure that you're using light cups of flour, and your dough should be soft and slightly tacky to the touch. Dough with this consistency should rise better next time. We hope that helps!
