I prefer to keep the allspice and nutmeg for the gingerbread cookies and replace them in this recipe with parsley and rosemary. Otherwise this is the recipe I have been making for years and which my Anglo friends refer to as Torture Pie, because I only make them at Christmas time and they have to wait a whole year to enjoy again. They say that is pure torture. Enjoy.
