Hi - sounds like you might have been a bit heavy-handed with the flour. Did you measure using a cup (rather than weighing)? If so, please check out our How to Measure Flour page; good all-around info. for all your baking. Also, you might want to check your oven temperature with an independent (oven) thermometer, if you don't already use one; the temperature dials on ovens are notoriously inaccurate.
