I'vee been making caramel corn for many years, and giving big bags of it to co-workers and neighbors. Early on I found that stirring the molten corn on sheet pans exposed me to hot caramel and spills.
One year my turkey roasting pan had been set aside, and noticing its nice deep sides and the handles on each end, it looked like it might work for my caramel corn. AND IT DID! My whole batch fit in the pan, and the rigorous stirring didn't spill any. This is my go-to pan now and I highly suggest others give it a try if the sheet pan method doesn't work well for them.
