Susan, Thanks so much for this blog of "close calls and disasters"! It just makes my heart sing to know I am not alone in forgetfulness! I just put a double batch of bread in my Zo and have fingers crossed I didn't forget anything important! I have gotten into the habit of "mis en place", that wonderful French tradition of putting all the ingredients out and pre-measuring them in small cups or bowls. Makes for a few more dishes, but what a good feeling to just plop in ingredients all at once instead of running around getting individual spices and ingredients out as you read them off your recipe!I also put items away after I have pre-measured. The funniest mistake I've ever made was using panko bread crumbs instead of rice when I was baking a recipe for chicken tenders. They looked right, but they sure didn't fluff up like rice! I learned then to pre-measure for only one recipe at a time! My hens enjoyed the Panko Delight!
