A grandmotherly lady in my childhood would make this to give out to her neighbors. I loved apple but would crave cherry...when her sister would come down from michigan with baskets of cherries she'd make one just for me. When I saw your picture...I thought "maple glaze",but apple cinnamon sounds great, too. Oooh yeah, cherry sounds wonderful. With vanilla-almond glaze... Maybe some toasted almonds on top of the glaze? :) PJH
