For the Memorial Day version, you could just do a red and white stripe and then frost it in blue with little star decorations. Then you wouldn't have to figure out how to maintain the difficult blue batter. This is a wonderful cake, thank you for the idea. Everyone has such great ideas, thanks for sharing! ~ MaryJane
