I made this cake yesterday, but something went wrong. As it baked, the brown batter seem to rise up the sides and push into the middle, all of those pretty concentric rings got pinched to the very inside of the cake. It baked up into a normal shape, with normal rise, when I turned it out of the cake pan, chilled it, then sliced into it, the cake was 90% a light brown color with the white and brown stripes only in the very middle. It also turned out very dense. I followed all directions, and even made sure to use Dutch process cocoa. Any idea what could have happened? I even posted a pre oven picture on my Instagram because all the concentric circles look so nice and exactly like the blog post. Any idea what the downfall might have been? Thank you!
