My favorite memory of baking with my mom took place when I was about 13 yrs. old. We were baking a chocolate cake and my mother was letting me run the hand-held mixer. She was standing there watching me when she noticed the cord of the mixer was touching one of the burners on the stove and the burner was on. She said, "OH! The cord!". So I jerked my hand up to get the cord off the burner, forgetting that the mixer was in that hand, and said mixer was just in a bowl of chocolate cake mix and said mixer was still running when I lifted it up over my head. Chocolate cake mix splattered all over her, all over me, all over the kitchen and even made it to the ceiling. We took one look at each other and started cracking up! It was awesome!!! Happy Mother's Day Mom! I love you!
