Seeing the comments about eating the bread warm reminds me of my Grandmother, who baked a ton or two of bread in her lifetime. She always told us to wait for the bread to cool before cutting it because "cutting the bread warm makes it sad". (And I guess it does when it causes it to smoosh down. May have to try the hot knife trick.) I'll be doing a chedder/pepperoni bread along this line for this weekend's all city garage sale.
