This sounds perfect; I'll try it this week-end. I'm allergic to honey, so I'll try it with maple syrup. And please keep trying to find a good bread slicing guide. Mine is at least 15 years old, and is starting to show its age. I mentioned to my hairdresser how handy disposable shower caps are in the kitchen and he gave me a supply that will last for years.
