wow.. I'm in charge of the pumpkin pie for thanksgiving this year, but I'm either going to have to change the menu, or just make two pies, because I have to try this question though.. would it be ok to skip the shortening in the crust? could I just use 8 tablespoons of butter instead? Hi Adam, Yes, you can use all butter in the crust. It will be a bit more finicky to work with, but the flavor will be terrific. ~MaryJane
