Hi Sheila,
We ship our starter as a little ball of dough in a small plastic container. It'll be fine for 7-10 days in transit if it was well fed and refrigerated. Starters are happier in cooler temps, so you may want to try getting them in the mail soon before it gets too warm out. ~ MJ
