Just reporting back, I made this over the weekend for my dad. It was a fabulous hit. I didn't make the filling very sweet, but to help with the tartness of the apples, I drizzled some melted caramel over the top of the pie, the sweetness was just right. We warmed it and served it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Everyone loved it. Love the melted caramel idea, Nanci - Thanks! PJH
