I am making this tonight! Ok, I admit, I'm shrinking the recipe down - no matter how much I make, I will eat them all till they're gone, so I've learned to do my fractions and make smaller recipes. I'll also be forgoing the corn syrup and shortening. Let's hope they turn out half as good as the ones in the picture! Pam, a smaller batch is FINE - though be aware they freeze beautifully, individually wrapped. And you'll get a slightly different result without corn syrup and shortening, but I'm sure delicious.
