My folks had a neighborhood grocery store in the late 1920s to early '40s. Supermarkets were just beginning to open in the last of the 1930s. When Twinkies first came on the market, in the mid-30s(?), the filling was banana flavored, smooooth and buttery rich. (Twinkies and a glass of cold milk - full fat, cream top, only kind available. Mmmm. Good.) Chances are an ingredient list was not a requirement then. Probably the unpronounceable junk wasn't either. Can't remember when I had my last Twinkie, just because of the non-home-kitchen additives. Well, G-G, now you can make your own! Boy, does your description sound mouthwatering... PJH
