Just a "what if" -- What if annamarie (see above) used a bundt cake pan instead of just a big round pan? You could make a tunnel of peanut butter mixture around the inside after pouring half the batter in the pan. Someone else try this. My wife can't have the sugar, and I don't need it. Ed, you're right - that would work much butter. Tunnel of peanut butter fudge cake. I'm still a bit worried about the PB just disappearing during baking, but I may have to try this and report back.
