I'm going to try these this week, my first recipe from here. I'm a displaced Queens girl. NYC black and whites definitely have lemon and definitely are frosted on the bottom, flat side of the cookie. They also make in the bakeries a black and white batter bundt cake with the cookie frosting dizzled over it. If you ever feel motivated to recreate that recipe, I wouldn't be disappointed, it's my favorite!!!!
