I recently bought a Pizzelle iron and have lost myself in the kitchen for several days making various flavored Pizzelle. Perhaps it’s the contrast in sweetness to other treats that are So loaded with sugar, but these taste so bland to everyone in my family. Perhaps we just aren’t going to like them. I made chocolate peppermint, gingerbread and today, Orange Cardamom Pizzelles. I also attempted almond with finely chopped nuts and the batter was to die for but.. consistency wasn’t good and they seemed to want to stick to the iron a bit. They are absolutely beautiful but I cannot find a flavorful recipe anywhere. I added orange zest of an entire orange, 1 tablespoon of orange extract and a heaping tablespoon of cardamom. Sugar 3/4 cup. They smell fabulous while cooking. What am I doing wrong?
