yes, I used bread machine yeast which I think is the same thing. However, it expired in 7/08. I kept it around because it was in the freezer and I thought it might still work. For the most part it did but the dough took forever to rise. I threw the last of the jar out today. My new 1lb pack of SAF came from KAF recently. :) (fresh yeast). I made "Potato Bread Perfect For Toast" today with the old yeast. Like I said, it took forever to rise; but, it turned out great. I had some leftover mashed potatos from dinner last night. I left out 1 tsp of the salt because the mashed potatos had salt in them already. The loaf was a big success. Thanks for the info on loaf size.
