Can you make this bread without the baking soda? I made this recipe following the recipe using a scale to measure my ingredients. However, the flavor of the bread reminded me of baking powder biscuits even though there is no baking powder in it. I'm not a loving off them so am wondering if leaving out the baking soda will have a negative effect on the recipe.

Also couldn't you just make regular english muffins and rather than cut them and bake on a skillet, put the dough in a loaf pan and bake as a loaf rather than individual muffins?
