So, I've made rugelach, spritz, kipfel cookies, Tre Colore, biscotti, gingerbread men, and even sugar cookies...but cooky baking is never complete until I make date pinwheels. My husband eyed them rather suspiciously as I fussed a bit over them earlier today - I am a HORRIBLE rolled cooky baker, and if they're not sugar cookies or peanut butter cookies, he's skeptical anyway. Mine always turn out mishappen and well, rectangular. As the first batch cooled, I watched him sidle over to them, and pop one (whole, I think, to as not give away that he tried one) into his mouth. Chew, chew, chew...He grabbed 6 and ran off to the office to eat in peace since my 16 month old was begging for his own. Score! So we made a batch without the nuts, a batch with, and they're all gone, already. And there's only 2 1/2 people in our home! I guess I'll have to make more tomorrow... ;) As well as some date-nut bread, and more rugelach, with dates, of course. :)
