Dried Traverse City cherries (available from Amazon) work well in cookies and muffins too. My question is do the oats have to be quick cooking? I always use the regular Quaker rolled oats in my Grandmother's oatmeal raisin cookies and they cook perfectly in the time the cookies bake. I think with regular oats you'll have flatter cookies; more "puddle like," which is fine if you don't mind that. The quick oats absorb more liquid. You can always take the traditional oats and whirl them in a food processor very briefly; that allows them to act the same as the quick oats. AND the cherries sound like a divine addition! PJH
