In regards to clelumom July 15, 2011. I was wondering if we might be related by way of sourdough. I have used my starter that was started in 1867 and came by way of the Chillcoot Trail also known as the Alaskan gold rush trail. I have had it for 44 years and it is also used with warm milk and flour to feed it. I have made bread, rolls, pancakes, waffles and the best cinnamon rolls in Alaska. I have dried it on a cookie sheet and broken it into pieces and put in a zip loc bag to store or send it outside (anywhere outside of Alaska is outside). Sourdough is so easy to use and is impossible to kill. I broke my back 5 years ago and have not been able to use it. I checked it this morning and it was fine. It has alot of hooch on top but I will just stir it in. Sourdough is fun and easy!
