I followed the recipe from the Times, although the dough sat out a few hours while I went to get more chips. Then I chilled for 24 hours. The cookies never spread at all. Any ideas why that might be
Didn't use a large egg? Not quite enough sugar? Oven temp. too low? Didn't use cake flour and bread flour? If you followed the recipe's ingredients EXACTLY, not sure... Next time, bake one cookie first, to see what happens. If it doesn't spread, try flattening before baking. Or, if you can, add some water back into the dough, which will help the spread.
