These look wonderful...is there a way to make them using fresh onions rather than minced dried onions? (Your blog is great - thank you!) Audrey, I'd chop the onions fine, and then cook them or roast in the oven till golden. It might not work with fresh onions, as they'll exude their juice,and I think it'll make the spiral unroll... but give it a try. - PJH
