This recipe has been a family favorite for years since it was printed in the original Baker's Companion (I was REALLY surprised to see it didn't make the cut for the new updated version). In fact that is the recipe in the book that looks the most "used" -- surely a good sign. A family friend that just passed away this passed weekend loved this recipe and baking it for him was the way I showed him my love. Rest in peace, Charlie.
