I've made this cake (or similar) for years and the original recipe did have flour, but I substituted sifted cocoa powder. Also, I beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy, add cocoa powder, then fold into the melted butter/chocolate mixture. I also serve with a raspberry sauce or fresh raspberries that've been macerated in raspberry liquor(sp?) and sugar. PS: why is vanilla not kosher? just curious. Kosher for Passover = no alcohol. Some kosher bakers who made this recipe used vanilla flavored sugar or vanilla bean paste. Thanks for sharing your techique and delicious sauce. Irene @ KAF
