Ailuy, yes, you can probably substitute arak for the Galliano; I'm not sure how strong it is compared to Galliano, but they're both licorice-flavored, as you point out. As for making the cake dairy-free, try increasing the vegetable oil to 3/4 cup and omitting the butter; that should work out fine. Good luck — PJH@KAF
